Just a few days ago, reports surfaced online that Warsaw restaurants belonging to the Inspector Gastro Group chain have not paid their employees wages for months. There are several restaurants facing complaints; however, as an investigation shows, they share common beneficial owners — Anatolii Rainin and Kateryna Onatska.
As the restaurant workers themselves report, the problem with unpaid wages is systemic. Total arrears to the staff have already reached hundreds of thousands of zlotys, while the administration and owners of the establishments, according to employees, simply ignore their appeals.
According to a document obtained by the editorial board, the employees are appealing directly to the management of Inspector Gastro Group sp. z o.o. They demand the settlement of wage arrears and other payments due to them.
The document addresses unfulfilled obligations to the employees and sets a deadline for full debt settlement. If the payments are not made, the authors of the demand warn that they will appeal to state authorities and the courts.
Public statements by employees that surfaced in September describe a similar situation in at least two establishments — Inspector Lounge and Canoe Lounge. According to employees, after working their shifts, the money was not paid, messages remained unanswered, and in some cases, after demanding payment of what they earned, contacts with the workers were severed or they were blocked.
What draws attention in this story is not only the fact of widespread non-payment of earned money to hired employees, but also the personalities of the business owners who, according to the employees, failed to meet their obligations to their own compatriots.
This concerns at least three restaurants — Inspector Lounge, Canoe Lounge, and Senator Warsaw.
Inspector Lounge is located at ul. Zielna 37 in Warsaw. It is one of the flagship brands of the Inspector group. It is Inspector Lounge that features most prominently in recent public complaints from employees.
The restaurant has been operating since February 2023. Polish media previously described it as a Ukrainian restaurant with an international menu, a bar, hookahs, and evening events.
The second establishment — Canoe Lounge — is located at ul. Świętokrzyska 14 in Warsaw. The third — Senator Warsaw — operates at Emilii Plater 53, Warsaw Financial Center.
All three restaurants are united under one structure — Inspector Gastro Group sp. z o.o., which is referred to in the employee complaint mentioned above.
Key company registration details: KRS 0001011723, NIP 7011123690, REGON 524118960. The company was registered on January 5, 2023, and its registered office address is ul. Krucza 16/22 lok. 607, Warsaw. Its primary business activity is the restaurant industry.
Originally, the company was named Golden Peach sp. z o.o. and was registered with a share capital of just 5,000 zlotys. Its sole shareholder was Kateryna Onatska, and the president was Rahman Rasulzade.
Later, the company’s structure changed. In May 2025, the share capital was increased to 200,000 zlotys, and Anatolii Rainin appeared among the shareholders. In September 2025, Kateryna Onatska was again registered as a shareholder.
Currently, according to registry data, the co-owners of the company are Anatolii Rainin with a 55.81% stake and Kateryna Onatska, who holds 44.19%.
It is worth noting that Anatolii Rainin is the beneficial owner of three Polish companies — Inspector Gastro Group, Inspector Warsaw, and Canoe Warsaw:
His business partner Kateryna Onatska, in turn, is the beneficial owner of two companies — Inspector Gastro Group and Peach Limited.
The latter was registered on the same day — January 5, 2023 — as the initial Golden Peach sp. z o.o. The ultimate beneficial owner of Peach Limited is Kateryna Onatska, who owns 95% of the shares.
The registered office address of the company is the very same Warsaw address at Krucza 16/22/607 currently used by Inspector Gastro Group.
Thus, despite subsequent changes in registration details for some of the establishments at the center of the scandal, their official beneficiaries are two individuals — Anatolii Rainin and Kateryna Onatska.
Anatolii Rainin
The origins of one of the figures — Anatolii Rainin — could not be determined. Judging by his surname, he is not an ethnic Pole. At the same time, in the registration documents Anatolii Rainin is listed as a Polish citizen.
He appeared in the structure of Inspector Gastro Group in May 2025. The second major stake belongs to Kateryna Onatska.
At the same time, Anatolii Rainin is not the head of Inspector Gastro Group: the president of the board remains Rahman Rasulzade, who has held this position since the company’s registration in January 2023.
Anatolii Rainin himself sits on the supervisory board alongside Kateryna Onatska and Lev Rainin. Thus, according to the latest available entry in the KRS, Rainin is one of the key co-owners of the company while simultaneously sitting on its supervisory board.
Through the registers, Rainin is also identified as a beneficiary of other entities connected to the restaurant business, including Inspector Warsaw and Canoe Warsaw. At the same time, public sources that could be verified contain no reliable data on his prior entrepreneurial activity before 2025.
As for his connection to Lev Rainin, who also serves on the supervisory board of Inspector Gastro Group and is significantly older than Anatolii Rainin, the registers confirm it solely as the fact of joint participation in the company’s governing body. Whether they are related is unknown, although such a possibility cannot be ruled out.
Kateryna Onatska
Kateryna Onatska is not an ethnic Pole either, yet she has a significantly longer history of involvement in Polish business. According to Polish registers, Kateryna Onatska holds Ukrainian citizenship and Polish residency. It can therefore be assumed that in Ukrainian documents her first and last name are recorded as Kateryna Onatska.
Her business activities in Poland can be traced back to at least 2018, and specifically in the restaurant and hospitality sector — since the early 2020s.
In particular, at the time of registration of Esco Group sp. z o.o. in May 2021, Kateryna Onatska was its sole owner, holding all 100 shares with a total value of 5,000 zlotys. She also served as president of the management board. Later, in December 2021, Rahman Rasulzade became the owner and head of Esco Group.
In Inspector Gastro Group, which was initially named Golden Peach, Kateryna Onatska joined the management board in July 2024. In May 2025, she left the board and concurrently withdrew from the company’s co-owners. During that same period, Anatolii Rainin emerged in the company’s structure.
However, by September 24, 2025, Kateryna Onatska once again became a co-owner of the company, acquiring 38 shares with a total value of 76,000 zlotys. At the same time, she joined the supervisory board.
Thus, according to publicly available data, the co-owners — Anatolii Rainin and Kateryna Onatska — may be directly implicated in the story surrounding the non-payment of wages to employees of Inspector Gastro Group restaurants. Furthermore, judging by available information, a substantial portion of the staff at these venues are citizens of Ukraine.
These are people who found themselves in Poland and are working in the hospitality sector. For this very reason, the situation regarding the failure to pay them their earned money warrants attention not only from the employees themselves, but also from Polish regulatory and law enforcement authorities.
The further development of this story will show whether the employees’ statements and their demands for debt repayment will have legal ramifications for the management and co-owners of Inspector Gastro Group.
In Poland, as in other EU countries, workers’ labor rights are protected by law. Now the question is how this story will unfold for Polish citizen Anatolii Rainin and Ukrainian citizen Kateryna Onatska.
