The SBU detained another Russian informer who was adjusting enemy strikes on the AFU’s artillery in the Kharkiv region

The counterintelligence unit of the Security Service detained another informer for the aggressor country in the Kharkiv region. The perpetrator was adjusting enemy fire on the Defense Forces, which are located 10 km from the front line in the Vovchansk direction.

The investigation found that among the main targets of the rashists were the positions of the AFU’s tube artillery, which has the hostile assault groups under fire control.

According to operational data, if the enemy received coordinates of Ukrainian forces, it planned to strike them with precision using ultra-heavy guided aerial bombs.

SBU officers acted preemptively and detained the suspect "red-handed" while he was conducting a reconnaissance sortie near the front in his own car under the pretense of going fishing.

Simultaneously with the operation to detain the informer, measures were taken to secure the location of the Kharkiv defenders.

According to the case materials, the shelling corrections were carried out by an unemployed resident of Chuhuiv district, who drew the attention of Russian intelligence officers while seeking “easy” earnings on Telegram channels.

It was established that, following the rashist handlers’ instructions, their accomplice drove around the area near the line of engagement in his own car and recorded the deployment points of Ukrainian forces.

At the scene of the arrest, the informer’s smartphone was seized; he had used it to collect intelligence and contacts with Russia.

Investigators of the Security Service informed him of suspicion under part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unauthorized dissemination of information about the movement or placement of the AFU or other military formations established under the laws of Ukraine, committed under martial law).

The perpetrator is held in custody without the right to post bail. He faces up to 8 years of imprisonment.

The investigation continues to determine all circumstances of the crime and the possible additional qualification of the hostile spotter’s actions as treason.
