About
Ministry of News is an independent project monitoring Ukrainian public figures. We automatically track news and record changes: deleted materials, edited headlines and updated texts. The project was created as a public accountability tool for the information space.
How monitoring works
Our system regularly scans leading Ukrainian news websites and preserves the original or a PDF copy of each article. If the text or headline changes, we keep both versions. If a material is deleted, it remains in our archive. Each public figure receives a person score that reflects the number of changed or deleted materials where they were mentioned.
How the score is calculated
The person score considers the share of materials mentioning a person that were later deleted or edited within the overall set of publications found. A higher score indicates a more stable publication history; a lower score indicates a greater share of edits or deletions. The algorithm does not assess why changes were made or determine whether a publication is true — interpretation always remains with the reader.
Who decides what is compromising
No one. We do not make judgments and do not classify materials as compromising. Ministry of News is a mirror: we show what was published and what changed. Interpretation is always up to the reader. We do not make editorial decisions. The system is fully automated.
Can information be removed
No. We preserve copies of materials that were already published in open access. Our task is to record the fact of publication and any later changes.
