Started on the Intercity, finished by car — MP on the trip from Kyiv to Dnipro

Member of parliament Roman Kaptyelov described his journey by Ukrainian Railways from Kyiv to Dnipro 6 August. Despite plans, finishing it in a carriage did not work out, had to look for a ride in the middle of the way.

“Today I traveled from Kyiv to Dnipro. I actually traveled, because the word ‘went’ would be an overstatement here. O 6:30 we got on the “Intercity.” Then for half an hour we stood in the middle of a field—probably enjoying the scenery as part of the program “Ukrzaliznytsia all inclusive.” We then changed to another train, in a second-class carriage. We sat there as well, but did not go anywhere. Obviously, the carriage was planned only for a “rest.” Then—on foot through the field to the highway, search for a car, car segment, and finally the station in Dnipro. I stopped home at o 16:30. For a full transport quest, only a scooter was missing. It could have been added—for variety. But the most frightening thought is winter. It seems it’s time to learn to walk on skis already. Because tickets are tickets, but one’s own transport must be reliable. Sorry for the sarcasm… this is out of anger,” writes Roman Kaptyelov.

As reported by Informator, Ukrzaliznytsia announced tightened safety rules for passengers on the road. This is connected with the fact that Russian forces have become increasingly targeted at the railway, and in case of an attack a carriage could become a trap. UZ now more carefully monitors all threats 24/7 and stops those trains, in whose immediate vicinity there is an air threat. Staying in a carriage, which is the main target, is certainly less safe than sheltering at a station or dispersing at a distance from the train.
