Golden granite of science: ranking the most expensive education for children of officials (infographic)

Children are our future. And to make it bright, parents usually try to give their offspring a good education. Ukrainisch officials are not used to sparing on children, often sending their offspring to study abroad. Which of them is the most expensive? journalists of Bihus.Info found out.

We have been compiling a similar rating for the second time. As last year, it was led by former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. His younger son Mykhailo was supposed to finish the graduating class at the British Concord College this year. Poroshenko's daughters Oleksandra and Yevheniia graduated from there last year and continued their education at the London-based University of the Arts and University College. All in all, education of children in Great Britain in 2018-era cost the former guarantor almost 4,3 million hryvnias.

In second place again is member of parliament Ruslan Demchak, who also sent his children to tackle the granite of science on the “foggy Albion.” However, this year the cost of their education significantly increased—from 2,1 to 3,1 million hryvnias.

Third place of the rating this year went to member of parliament Hlib Zahoriy. He declared nearly 2,6 million in education expenditures, pushing the last year’s bronze medalist — former advisor to the Head of the Presidential Administration Natalia Popovych — to fourth place. Preschool and secondary education for her children in Denmark cost about 2 million hryvnias.

And closing the top five finalists is former deputy of the Kherson Regional Council, and recently a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Ihor Kolihaev. He, in turn, spent 1,9 million hryvnias on education.

25,6 % of officials who declared education expenses sent their children to study abroad. The most popular destinations turned out to be the United Kingdom, the United States, Poland, Canada, and Cyprus. In total, education for Ukrainian declarants in 2018 year cost 44,7 million hryvnias.
