The statement about the elections greatly confuses foreign partners. And Russia will take full advantage of it.

"What elections, what is happening over there?" The morning for me began with this message from my German colleagues.

And then the continuation: "We have wasted a lot of time explaining why elections cannot be held during a war. Has your security situation or the Constitution changed? Why is everyone suddenly talking about elections?"

That same thought kept me from sleeping until four in the morning. I stubbornly do not understand why it is necessary right now to raise the discussion about elections. It is hard to count me among supporters of the current president; I have three million objections to him. But I do not have an answer as to how elections can be held now.

Not to organize the voting day, not to add a button in the 'Diya' app that everyone can press (by the way, what do you think, will Russia try to interfere with the results of this vote?). And to allow a full pre-election process to take place, with programs, campaigning, debates — in which everyone can participate on equal terms.

And also remind: participation in elections is not only voting, but also the right to run for office. Tell me, will current servicemen be able to run if they wish? Or will we deprive them of this right? But under the new contracts they still have at least two years to wait before they can join the political life of the country.

Many people in the ruling team already do not see real problems in the country with their dream of elections. Instead of focusing on the difficult situation in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, the problems of mobilization, a hard winter, our overdue obligations to the EU, they dream about political ratings and populist slogans. So why stir up these fantasies even more?

And the statement about elections also confuses our foreign partners a lot, and be sure, Russia will use it fully against Ukraine.
