Yushchenko said he is "very disturbed" by the fact that the NBU effectively has no head

Former President Viktor Yushchenko acknowledged that he is very concerned by the fact that the National Bank still does not have a full-fledged leader and did not deny his interest in the position of its head. He said this in an interview with the Pryamiy channel, which was broadcast 8 October.

Yushchenko said he is "very disturbed" by the fact that the NBU effectively has no head. In his words, he "cannot be objective when speaking about the National Bank," because he "gave too much to it."

Also, in response to host Yuliya Lytvynenko's question, "You could call President Poroshenko and say that you would hold the hryvnia, for which you are responsible?" he answered as follows:

"I would not call the president, but if the president called back, that would be my second reaction."

Recall, 10 April Valeria Gontareva announced her resignation at a press conference. At that time it was planned that she would leave the post in a month, 10 May, but to this day she formally remains in office.

In connection with her submitted resignation, Gontareva appointed her first deputy, Yakiv Smolii, as acting head of the central bank from 11 May.
