The court refused Opoblock's request to deem the CEC's decision to close polling stations in Russia illegal

The Sixth Administrative Court of Appeals in Kyiv denied the representatives of the Opposition Bloc's claim regarding the illegality of the CEC's resolution on closing polling stations on the territory of the Russian Federation.

This was reported by Vadym Novinsky, the head of the Opoblock faction, on his website.

“Although the CEC had no legal grounds to take such a decision, the court, in denying our claim, justified it by the lack of evidence of presence outside Ukraine on the day of the vote,” stated Novinsky.

He added that the decision is politically motivated and the Opposition Bloc will appeal it to the Cassation Administrative Court within the Supreme Court.

As a reminder, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine closed polling stations in Russia. This is stated in Resolution No. 274, published on the CEC website 31 in December.

Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko explained that Russia is an aggressor and occupier towards Ukraine, hence holding elections on its territory is a rather problematic and risky step.
