In the Rada’s corridors they are discussing exchanging Ruban for “Kremlin prisoners”

There is no unified position in the Verkhovna Rada regarding the initiative of People's Deputy from the Radical Party Andriy Lozovyi, who proposed exchanging the arrested head of the NGO “Officer Corps,” Volodymyr Ruban, for the “Kremlin prisoners” – Mykola Karpiuk, Oleh Sentsov, Stas Klykh, Oleh Sentsov, Oleksandr Kolchenko and others.

Lozovyi’s fellow party member Dmytro Linko proposed not only exchanging Ruban, but also Viktor Medvedchuk and Nadiya Savchenko for Ukrainian prisoners held in Russian prisons.

“I support this proposal (regarding exchanging Ruban for ‘Kremlin prisoners,’ – ed.). We could also take Medvedchuk and Savchenko and exchange these three people together for all the prisoners held in Russia,” he said in a comment to the publication INFORMATOR.

Meanwhile, Opposition Bloc deputy Vadym Novynskyi stated that he is not ready to say whether he supports such a proposal, since he does not rule out that the case against Ruban may have been fabricated.

Parliamentarian Dmytro Bilotserkovets – a representative of the BPP in the Verkhovna Rada – said that he personally “is for Sentsov and all the other prisoners getting to Ukraine as soon as possible,” but before speaking about such an exchange it is necessary to clarify Russia’s position regarding Ruban, which is currently unknown.

At the same time, independent deputy Boryslav Bereza considers it impossible to exchange the “Kremlin prisoners” for Ruban, since the latter is a citizen of Ukraine.

“Volodymyr Ruban is a citizen of Ukraine, so talks about exchanging a Ukrainian citizen while he retains his citizenship are inappropriate,” he said.

Recall, the arrested head of the NGO “Officer Corps,” Volodymyr Ruban, attempted to organize a terrorist act in Ukraine with the help of servicemen, who reported his plans to the SBU.
