Yaroslav Shkodin: judge or defender of corrupt officials?

Recently we were interested in a post by the wife of Borys Kaufman, who is behind bars.

Borys Kaufman illegally seized Odesa Airport, causing the budget losses of 2,5 billion, and he went to jail with an alternative bail of 268,4 million UAH.

But on 26 October the High Anti-Corruption Court for some reason not only adjourned the hearing but also reduced the bail to 150 million. This despite the prosecutor requesting 992,4 million UAH bail.

A strange court that reduced the bail amount was presided over by High Anti-Corruption Court judge Yaroslav Shkodin.

And here is the most interesting part:

Yaroslav Shkodin is a former Kharkiv lawyer who became a judge after the competitions when the High Anti-Corruption Court was established.

And all his cases somehow strangely protect corrupt officials.

So, in June NABU detained the head of Ternopil Regional State Administration, Mykhailo Holovko from Svoboda, on receiving a bribe.

In July the SAP prosecutor asked the court to suspend Holovko from managing the regional council. But the court, chaired by Yaroslav Shkodin, refused the prosecutor.

Holovko is free and remains in office.

In July another event occurred.

NABU and SAP delivered a suspicion notice to former Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Vasyl Lozynskyi for bribery.

The prosecution requested arrest, but Lozynskyi’s lawyers filed a motion in the High Anti-Corruption Court to change the preventive measure.

And, miracle, Judge Yaroslav Shkodin grants the lawyers’ motion.

Later it turned out that Judge Shkodin’s sister, Iryna, is friends with Lozynskyi’s wife.

In January 2022 Shkodin lifted the seizure on the property of the wife of Yaroslav Dubnevych. Dubnevych himself, according to investigators, caused the state damage of 93 million.

Excuse me, is it normal that a judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court plainly does not particularly hide that he may be able to decide such high-profile cases for money?
