The investigation of the Kaufman and Granovsky case has been extended by three months

The High Anti-Corruption Court extended the investigation period in the case of businessmen Boris Kaufman and Alex Borukhovich (formerly Oleksandr Granovsky) for the creation of an organized crime group in Odesa to December 6. The decision was made by VACs in September 5.

“To grant the motion of the senior NABU detective for the extension of the pre-trial investigation period. To extend the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings to twelve months, that is, to 6 December 2023 of the year,” the ruling states.

6 December 2023 of the year marks the expiration of the maximum pre-trial investigation period after the notice of suspicion at one year. Therefore, by this date NABU and SAP must complete the investigation and open the investigation materials to the defense.

Recall that 5 December 2022 of the year NABU and SAP detained businessmen Kaufman and Granovsky. According to the investigation, in the autumn of 2021 year, after detectives of NABU and prosecutors of SAP exposed the criminal organization specializing in corruption schemes for illicit removal of property from municipal ownership in Odesa, a new one appeared in its place.

This organization took control of almost all matters of the city’s economic life, including interaction with developers, procurement at the expense of the local budget, the activities of municipal enterprises, and other aspects of interaction with business. To ensure the smooth realization of the set goals, the organizers established a system of systematic bribery of city officials and council members, as evidenced by the proof obtained by NABU and SAP during the investigation.
