Moratorium on fines for euro-plate holders: in the Servant of the People party they are preparing a request to Nefedov

A group of Ukrainian people’s deputies led by MP Liudmyla Marchenko plans to address the head of the Customs Service, Maksym Nefedov, to cancel fines for euro-plate vehicle owners.

It is known that since 1 January 2020 this year the State Customs Service has been imposing fines on Ukrainians whose motor vehicles exceeded the term of legal stay of the car on the territory of Ukraine.

According to Liudmyla Marchenko, the customs service managed to fine more than a dozen owners of foreign-registered cars, and in many cases the amount of the fine is the maximum and reaches 170 thousand hryvnias.

Notably, in mid-December last year the police promised to ban fines for owners of cars with foreign plates until the parliament passes a bill on affordable customs clearance of motor vehicles. The Ministry of Internal Affairs kept the promise, but the State Customs Service did not.

Accordingly, the organization AutoEuroStrength, which euro-plate holders belong to, turned to the people’s deputies for help. They also plan to ask the head of the Customs Service, Maksym Nefedov, to suspend the process of imposing fines on owners of cars with foreign registration.
