The name of the Maidan activist who helped "Berkut" has become known

One of the leaders of the public organization "Nobody But Us" has been notified of suspicion of concealing a crime in the case of the shooting of 39 Maidan activists by officers of the special unit "Berkut" 20 February 2014 on Instytutska Street in central Kyiv.

This was reported by the head of the Department of Special Investigations of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Serhiy Horbatiuk, in an interview with LB.ua.

According to him, the man who helped Berkut officers get rid of weapons and leave Kyiv represents the leadership of the public organization "Nobody But Us." However, Horbatiuk did not name this person’s surname and noted that he has not yet been detained.

"... he was notified of suspicion of concealing a crime, this is Article 396 of the Criminal Code, the sanctions of which provide for imprisonment of up to 3 years, that is, this is not a grave crime, but of medium gravity. The Criminal Code does not provide for arrest as a preventive measure in such a case," said the PGU official.

He emphasized that at present this suspicion has been announced against only one person.

According to LB.ua editor-in-chief Oleh Bazar, the person in question is the head of the NGO "Nobody But Us," Oleksandr Kovalov. "LB.ua has information that the person who helped Berkut’s 'black company' get rid of weapons and leave Kyiv is the head of the NGO 'Nobody But Us,' Oleksandr Kovalov," he wrote on his Facebook page.
