The criminal “Umka” is protected by the former partner of the Deputy Head of the OPU Andriy Smirnov

Next week, an appeal will take place regarding the preventive measure for “Umka” — the thief in law Serhiy Oliynyk.

There are grounds to believe the court will side with the defense, since Serhiy Oliynyk’s lawyer is Yuriy Ivashchenko, a business partner of the deputy head of the Office of the President Andriy Smirnov.

2017 - together with Ivashchenko Smirnov has created the law firm Smyrnov Law Office. The company slogan More law, less justice literally translates as “More laws, less justice.” Among their clients are Olena Lukash, Mykhailo Okhendovskyi, Oleksandr Yefremov and Volodymyr Petrov.

As a reminder, at the end of December the National Police conducted the arrest of two well-known “thieves in law” — “Umka” (Serhiy Oliynyk) and “Lasha Svan” (Lasha Djachvliani).

The next day it became known that both were chosen preventive measures in the form of arrest for 60 days without the right to post bail.

Head of the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police Andriy Rubel reported that Oliynyk and Djachvliani were summoned to the police to familiarize themselves with the case. There, on the spot, Oliynyk was additionally detained for a new episode — organization and participation in criminal gatherings.

For organizing and participating in the so-called “hiking up” (part 1 of Art. 255-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) “thieves in law” may face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property, and for spreading criminal influence (part 3 of Art. 255-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) – up to 15 years.

It is known that “Umka,” crowned in 2014 year, and “Lasha Svan,” the “thief in law” from 1995-year, received their “titles” from top figures of the Russian criminal world.
