A diplomat forecast whether Ukraine will be abandoned by the United States and Europe

UNIANA diplomat and former foreign minister Pavlo Klimkin believes that neither the Americans nor the Europeans will abandon Ukraine. He expressed this in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

"Second, I believe that funding will continue. And perhaps, under certain conditions, it will even increase. And I think that our move toward a real West, not a buffer, but toward Western the vanguard, will also continue. From what I feel. That does not mean it will be a linear, very comfortable, universally understood move. It does not mean that we will be valued by those who make key decisions. Exactly those who are responsible for them will see us through the lens of a cynical understanding of our asset or lack of added value," the diplomat said.

According to him, he does not see that key players inside today’s Western world are ready or preparing to abandon us.

"This is what I 100% can tell you from what I feel. Even in winter. Considering that winter will likely be challenging and difficult. But we are actually surprising, I believe, both our Western partners and Putin with our resilience. And we will probably surprise again more than once. These Ukrainians who do what they do, and this our image—this is one of our strongest traits," he added.

Forecasts for winter in Ukraine

Earlier, former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said that the next winter could be the harshest for Ukraine since the full-scale invasion by Russia.

He believes that allies should pressure U.S. President Donald Trump to take more active steps to aid Ukraine. According to him, Washington should allow Ukraine to produce interceptor missiles for Patriot defense to shield itself from Russian attacks.
