"I Believe in Victory": Hvozdyk Picks Favorite in Berynchyk–Nokes Fight

Ukrainian lightweight boxer (up to 61,2 kilograms) Denys Berynchyk is preparing to return to the professional ring in a bout against British fighter Sam Nokes.

Former world champion at up to 79,38 kilograms Oleksandr Hvozdyk believes that the fight in London is a good opportunity for Berynchyk to get back to a high level. The light heavyweight told the portal sport-express.ua about this.

Why Berynchyk could win, according to Hvozdyk

The well-known Ukrainian boxer thinks Berynchyk is ready for the fight.

"I expect an interesting fight. I understand that bookmakers do not see Denys as the favorite. I’m aware of the situation ahead of the match. However, it seems to me, although it’s hard to call Denys a ‘dark horse,’ he will show great boxing. I saw his preparation and training in Ukraine. I think we will see him in great shape," Hvozdyk said.

Oleksandr also added that the fight suits Denys stylistically.

"Precisely by style, and because the opponent is a dangerous knockout puncher, I believe Denys can perform very successfully against him. In other words, he matches him. I believe in Denys’s victory. That’s my prediction,"

Hvozdyk said.

We’ll add that the main event of the evening at London’s O2 Arena will be the Moses Itauma–Filip Hrgovic fight for the IBF heavyweight title (over 90,72 kilograms).

When and where to watch Berynchyk–Nokes

The Ukrainian’s bout will begin on 29 August at approximately 23.00 Kyiv time. In Ukraine it will be shown by the MEGOGO media service.

On the line will be the WBO International belt; Denys held it from 2018, when in Brovary at the ice palace arena Terminal he beat Rosecki Cristobal by technical knockout in the seventh round.

The Ukrainian gave up that title when in 2024 he became the full WBO champion after defeating Emanuel Navarrete.
