In October Ukraine will run out of money: a lawmaker explained why this will happen

The failure of the Verkhovna Rada to vote on taxing international parcels could cost Ukraine 6 billions of dollars. The consequence will be a severe financial crisis, which is expected as early as October. This is stated to Oboz.ua by Ukrainian lawmaker Danylo Hetmanets. According to him, the deputies’ refusal to vote for a new tax is billions of euros in aid that Ukraine will lose by failing to fulfill one of the commitments it assumed, and also — the ability to pay Ukrainian soldiers on time. According to the politician, if all obligations are fulfilled, Ukraine will receive 30 billions of dollars. If it fails to do so, the deficit will be 57 billions, and this will mean a financial catastrophe starting in October. As the deputy stressed, this is a big blunder looming over the country, and parcels occupy only a small part of it. Thus, on Tuesday, 1 September, they rejected not only parcels but also the neutral issue of forming the Accounting Chamber. Regarding parcels, this refers to a package worth 4,2 billion euros from the EU and a program with the IMF for 1,6 billion dollars, which will be derailed. “They interpret it this way: we have a deficit of 27 billions for the army, while we do not meet even elementary obligations. Europe introduces an additional levy on parcels for the EU budget, from which they provide aid to us, and we do not tax our parcels,” Hetmanets says about the partners’ reaction to Ukraine’s situation that provide financial assistance for such Verkhovna Rada decisions. Earlier, “FACTI” reported that an IMF mission arrived in Ukraine to discuss the possibility of allocating about 6 billion dollars.
