The Kremlin told China the outcome of talks with Trump’s representatives

Russia informed China about the results of talks with U.S. presidential special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which took place 5 September in Moscow. This was announced by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, Reuters reported, citing his statement to Russian media.

According to Rudenko, Moscow and Beijing maintain a constant dialogue on key issues, so the Russian side conveyed information about the meeting between the American representatives and the Russian leadership to their Chinese counterparts.

“We have a continuous dialogue with our Chinese colleagues on all the most important issues that interest us. So, I think such information was conveyed to them,” Rudenko said.

This concerns the meeting of Witkoff and Kushner with Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin, which took place 5 September in Moscow. The American special representatives came to the Russian capital for talks on Russia’s war against Ukraine. As Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said, the conversation lasted 3 hours 10 minutes. According to him, the talks focused on possible ways to resolve the war.

Ushakov also said that during the meeting the American representatives expressed willingness to use in talks in Kyiv the assessments Putin voiced regarding possible settlement paths.

“The U.S. president’s special representatives stated their readiness to use in talks in Kyiv the assessments expressed by Putin regarding possible settlement paths,” Ushakov said.

At the same time, the aggressor country did not disclose details of the information it passed to China after Putin’s meeting with the U.S. president’s representatives.

Recall that on 8 September Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump that lasted about an hour. The parties discussed a possible end to the war in Ukraine and the results of Steve Witkoff’s and Jared Kushner’s talks.

After the call the Kremlin said that Trump is interested in achieving a breakthrough to end the war before the end of his presidential term in 2029.

Meanwhile, Ukraine and the U.S. are discussing new ideas and approaches to ending the war. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi said that the situation on the battlefield and in the airspace has changed, so the negotiation process requires updated approaches.

Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump have tentatively agreed to a personal meeting in September. Ukraine is also ready to return to a trilateral negotiation format involving Kyiv, Washington, and Moscow.
