The government expanded the powers of Derzhkino

The updated regulation designates Derzhkino as the central executive authority with a special status.

The Cabinet of Ministers designated the State Agency for Cinema as the central executive authority with a special status.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Culture.

The resolution grants the agency new legal tools to implement state policy in the field of cinema, and also expands its powers regarding work with national films and Ukraine’s international representation.

"Granting Derzhkino a special status clearly defines its role and powers within the system of state support for cinematography. This is important for transparent work with national films, effective operation of expert commissions, and full representation of Ukraine in international institutions. We are bringing the regulatory framework into compliance with legislation and creating clear rules of operation for the entire film industry," said Minister of Culture Tetiana Berezhna.

The document assigns Derzhkino the powers to organize the work of expert commissions under the Council for State Support of Cinematography, to carry out the procedure for petitions to grant or revoke national film status, and to maintain the State Register of National Films.

A separate set of powers concerns international cooperation. Derzhkino will perform the functions of the secretariat for national representatives in international organizations and will coordinate the activities of Ukraine’s representatives in the Management Council of the European Support Fund for Co-production and Distribution of Feature Films and Audiovisual Works ("Eurimages").
