Supreme Court closed Portnov's case against the Chesno movement

The Supreme Court has completed the consideration of the case of former MP and ally of Yanukovych Andriy Portnov against the Chesno movement. This is reported by Glavkom, citing Chesno.

Portnov sued over information in his profile in the Traitors Register and demanded its removal and a refutation. The Pechersky Court sided with him and ordered Chesno to delete the profile and pay more than 232 thousand hryvnias in court costs. The appeal reduced the amount to 83,7 thousand hryvnias.

The movement appealed the decision to the Supreme Court. 19 August 2026 of the year the court annulled the decisions of the previous instances and closed the case, since Portnov died, and such disputes do not allow succession of rights. In addition, the Supreme Court agreed that the previous courts violated the procedural rights of the participants by considering it without summoning the parties, despite their objections.

As a reminder, the shot dead former deputy head of the presidential administration of Ukraine under Yanukovych Andriy Portnov remains in the Traitors Register despite the won courts. The card for Andriy Portnov appeared in the Traitors Register 25 in May 2022 of the year.

By the way, in May 2026 of the year it has been a year since the death of the infamous pro-Russian politician, former deputy head of the presidential administration during Yanukovych, Andriy Portnov. He was shot on 21 May 2025 in the upscale suburb of Madrid—Pozuelo de Alarcón. Currently, Spanish investigators together with their European colleagues have made significant progress in the case, arresting the main suspect and establishing his ties to the Russian Federation.
