Samples of weapons were attempted to be transported from Ukraine: law enforcement officers disclosed details

Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, there have been three attempts to illegally move certain samples of weapons across Ukraine's state border. All of them were stopped, and the suspects were detained. This was reported by Oleksiy Sukhachov, the director of the State Bureau of Investigation, per Glavkom.

According to Sukhachov, these are three cases recorded since 2022 year. Law enforcement officers detained people directly during attempts to cross the state border.

“Since 2022 year we have had three instances where servicemen and civilians tried to illegally move across Ukraine's state border certain samples of weapons. This activity was stopped, the responsible persons were detained,” said the director of the SBI.

Sukhachov noted that combating illegal arms circulation is one of the Bureau's priority areas. According to him, law enforcement agencies consider various sources of origin of weapons that could be of interest for illicit movement.

Specifically, this refers to trophy weapons, weapons provided to Ukraine as part of international technical assistance, and weapons that are on the balance sheet of the Armed Forces of Ukraine or are developed by Ukrainian manufacturers.

“We understand that there are trophy weapons, weapons provided as part of international technical assistance, and weapons that are on the balance sheet of the Armed Forces and developed by our domestic manufacturers,” Sukhachov explained.

According to him, some parties may be interested in obtaining samples of Ukrainian weaponry for use in other armed conflicts.

It is worth recalling that the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, uncovered five channels of illegal sale of weapons, ammunition, and explosive substances in various regions of Ukraine. The organizers were detained in Poltava region, Donetsk region, Zakarpattia region, Zhytomyr region, and Odesa.
