Garbage Removed and the Land Cleaned Up: How the State Environmental Inspectorate of the Central District Forced Authorities to Clear Illegal Dumpsites

After stringent demands from the State Environmental Inspection of the Central District, the local city council was forced to pick up shovels and machinery to eliminate large illegal dumpsites that had been poisoning the environment for years.

Three problem spots on the community map

These unauthorized dumps did not appear by themselves — they were methodically created for years, until environmental inspectors, during routine planned checks and territory monitoring, recorded shocking violations of sanitary norms. During the raid, inspectors identified three blocked locations that seriously threatened local ecosystems:

Village Popivka: here the dump spread over an incredible area of almost one hectare (0,9961 ha), turning fertile land into pure chaos of waste.

Village Maksymivka: another problematic plot of more than 0,1 hectares, where various rubbish had been piled up for years.

Village Holoborodkyivske: smaller in area (more than 2 sotkas), but no less toxic a pile of waste that spoiled the appearance of the outskirts.

General cleanup under the supervision of eco-inspectors

When the environmental inspection set out demands to remedy the violations, the city authorities had to respond. During July and August of 2026, the Karlivska City Council Executive Committee organized large-scale debris removal operations. Utilities cleared the overgrown areas, loading tons of dirt onto trucks.

Joint work of ecologists and local officials yielded the long-awaited result: all three plots were completely cleaned of waste and brought to normal sanitary conditions. Thanks to this, the process of soil and groundwater contamination was halted, protecting the community's nature from further destruction.
