Changes will be made to the heating network project at Teremky; only 10 trees will be removed, - KMDA

This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration following a wrap-up meeting with members of the public and specialists.

“After refining the work on constructing the heating network to serve certain neighborhoods in Teremky in the Holosiivskyi district, an optimized scheme was developed. Work is planned to be carried out based on this scheme, which will make it possible to preserve about 160 trees. Instead, approximately a dozen plantings will be removed, and some others will only have their crowns pruned. This was discussed during the final meeting with local civic activists,” the KMDA statement on the administration’s website says.

As KMDA noted, different routing options for the heating network were presented, but experts believe there is no real alternative to the current project because of the tight deadlines for preparing for the heating season.

“Dmytro Naumenko, Director of the Department of Housing and Communal Infrastructure of KMDA, presented to members of the public various construction options that had been developed and considered. Over the past month, the city involved scientists and industry experts in revising them, including those delegated by the public. During the meeting with residents, experts also emphasized that there is no full and realistically executable alternative to the current project, given the very tight timeframe for winter preparation,” KMDA said.

As previously reported, a new heat pipeline is being built in Kyiv for the Teremky-1 and Teremky-2 residential areas, which is intended to provide backup heat supply for more than 200 thousand residents of the Holosiivskyi district in case the TEC-5 is damaged.
