Near Dobropillia, the occupiers shot two captured National Guardsmen

Russian occupiers 2 on September ⟦KEEP_A_DATE⟧ executed two Ukrainian servicemen who had surrendered. A pre-trial inquiry has been opened in a criminal case regarding the commission of a war crime.

This was reported to KV by the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.

“2 September 2026 of the year, two National Guard of Ukraine servicemen were on a firing position in a forest strip near Dobropillia. According to the investigation, Ukrainian defenders who were carrying out a combat mission were taken prisoner by the occupiers. Subsequently, representatives of the Russian armed forces shot them, firing with automatic weapons,” the statement reads.

Urgent investigative (search) actions are underway to establish all circumstances of the incident and those involved in committing the specified crime among the Russian military personnel.

“The killing of prisoners is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is qualified as a serious international crime,” the prosecutor's office stated.

Under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, a pre-trial investigation has begun in a criminal case regarding the commission of a war crime that caused the death of people.
