"Zaporizhstal" hit by ballistic missiles for the third time in a month

On the night of 12 September, Zaporizhstal was struck by missiles for the third time in the past month. Four ballistic missiles hit the company's production site, and four workers were injured. The plant has not resumed production since the previous attacks on 11 and 27 August.

The attack damaged primary and auxiliary equipment

in the blast-furnace and open-hearth shops, the power system, the company's networks, and

its logistics infrastructure.

According to the company's preliminary assessment, the damage is critical.

The final scale of the destruction will be determined after inspection of the facilities.

There were no fatalities. One of the four injured workers

declined hospitalization after receiving aid, while the other three with injuries

of moderate severity were taken to hospitals.

Because the plant was not operating after the previous strikes,

there is no risk of an industrial accident. The number of workers on the plant's premises

at the time of the attack was also limited.

Metinvest's Chief Operating Officer, Oleksandr

Mironenko, said that Zaporizhstal produced pig iron and steel for

civilian needs and, according to the company, there were no facilities on its territory that

could make the plant a military target.

Teams are currently eliminating the consequences of the strike and inspecting

the damaged equipment at the plant.

Recall that on 27 August Russia already struck Zaporizhstal with five missiles. After the

August attacks, the plant halted production and faced additional

problems due to blocked maritime logistics.
