"We will draw conclusions": Herashchenko spoke about her performance at the Absolute World Championships

Ukrainian high jumper Iryna Herashchenko reacted to her performance in Budapest. The decorated track and field athlete shared her emotions after finishing sixth at the new competition.

The Absolute World Athletics Championships are being held for the first time in the Hungarian capital, featuring only a limited circle of the best athletes. After finishing sixth in the high jump, Iryna Herashchenko spoke about her impressions to the Suspilne Sport website.

What Herashchenko said after the Absolute World Championships

Our athlete managed to clear heights of 1.86 m and 1.91 m. However, after three failed attempts at the bar set at 1.95 m, Herashchenko shared sixth place with two other competitors.

I made a sufficient number of jumps. What I took on the second attempt, instead of 1.96 m, unfortunately I did not take 1.95 m. We will draw conclusions for the next season, because right now I don't want to think about it. Probably I need to work more technically so that the jumps are classic,

– said Iryna Herashchenko.

The main prize was won by Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who cleared a height of 1.99 m.

What is known about Iryna Herashchenko

For the 31-year-old Kyiv native, the current season was her first after giving birth to her daughter. In 2026, Herashchenko won three silver medals at Diamond League stages.

At the end of August in Zurich, she cleared two meters for the first time in three years. At that Diamond League meeting she finished behind only Australia’s Nicola Olyslagers.

Iryna’s greatest achievement is the Olympic bronze in Paris-2024.
