Zelensky's invitation to Moscow in the Kremlin was called a 'gesture of goodwill'

Russia will not halt military actions against Ukraine during possible negotiations. This position was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This is reported by Glavcom with reference to Russian media.

“We, as before, are ready for negotiations, but during the negotiation period we will not suspend the special military operation,” he told reporters at the BRICS summit in New Delhi.

Separately, Lavrov called Vladimir Zelensky's invitation to come to Moscow “a huge gesture of goodwill” on the part of Russia.

As a reminder, earlier Zelensky effectively proposed to the Kremlin head a personal meeting during the G20 summit in December 2026 year. However, according to Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov, the possibility of Putin's trip to the G20 summit in Miami has not yet been discussed.

At the end of August, CIA Director John Brennan proposed organizing a trilateral summit involving Vladimir Zelensky, Donald Trump, and Vladimir Putin. According to Axios, he voiced this idea during a visit to Moscow. Ukraine previously supported such a meeting, while Russia rejected this idea.

Later, the Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that a meeting of Zelensky, Trump, and Putin could allegedly take place only to fix already agreed-upon final arrangements.

Previously, the Kremlin repeatedly proposed meeting Zelensky with Putin specifically in Moscow. The Ukrainian side rejected the Russian capital as a possible venue for negotiations. Zelensky also stated that the meeting should take place in neutral Europe, naming Switzerland, Austria, and Turkey among acceptable options. At the same time, the head of state invited Putin to come to Kyiv if he is truly ready for a personal meeting.
