Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia to Sit Down for Negotiations Again

The next round of peace talks in a trilateral format involving Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia is planned for October 2026. This was announced on the sidelines of the YES Annual Meeting 2026 by Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, reports Hlavyukom citing RBC-Ukraine.

“We are preparing. In October,” Budanov said in response to a question about the timing of the next meeting.

The Head of the President’s Office confirmed that this refers specifically to a trilateral negotiation format — Ukraine, the U.S., and Russia.

He did not, however, specify where the meeting might take place, and did not confirm reports that the talks could be held in the Middle East.

Earlier, U.S. presidential special envoy Jared Kushner said the American side continues to work on finding a solution to end Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to him, it is currently important to establish understanding between Kyiv and Moscow, and it is too early to evaluate concrete results of the talks.

Discussion of security and economic guarantees, as well as a plan for prosperity, was previously reported by President Volodymyr Zelensky after his meeting with Kushner and U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff in Kyiv 6 in September. At that time, Zelensky also identified the territorial issue as one of the key matters and emphasized that difficult questions of that level must be resolved by heads of state.

Kushner and Witkoff visited Kyiv after meeting with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The American representatives are trying to revive the negotiation process between Ukraine and Russia, which has long remained without significant breakthroughs.
