Nearly Fifty Drones During the Day. What Are the Consequences of Russia’s Massive Attack on Western Ukraine

From morning to evening the aggressor state’s forces, Russia, attacked Ukraine 410 with strike drones, 37 of them were rocket-powered. This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force.

This concerns the period from 6.30 to 18.00. Air defenses destroyed or neutralized 336 drones, including 23 rocket-powered ones. An impact of 21 drone was recorded, the Air Force noted.

Drones struck a number of towns and villages across Ukraine. At the same time a significant portion of the UAVs were moving toward the western regions. Explosions were heard in the Lviv, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions.

In Zhytomyr region, two people were killed and one was wounded as a result of the Russian attack. Police reported that in Korosten and Zvyagel districts there were strikes on civilian infrastructure facilities, a private enterprise, and the pavement on a section of an international highway. Buildings and vehicles were damaged and fires broke out.

At about 16.00 Russian forces attacked a grocery store in Zvyagel. Two people were killed during the shelling, another 32-year-old woman was injured. Two gas stations, passenger cars, and dry vegetation also caught fire. All fires were extinguished by rescuers.

Volyn was attacked by approximately 20 Shahed, said acting head of the Volyn OVA Roman Romanyuk. In Lutsk a passenger train was hit.

In the Kovel community there were several hits on a critical infrastructure facility (five people were injured), and there was also destruction in the village of Zarichchia.

Settlements in Rivne region came under attack. According to OVA head Oleksandr Koval, Russian occupiers attacked gas stations and an enterprise in the Sarny district. In addition, Dubno and part of Rivne district were left without power.

As of 18.00 approximately 55 strike drones remained in the airspace, and new groups were also approaching.
