Fedorov’s Employment at the Foundation Will Be Checked for Conflicts of Interest

Employment of former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov at the East Europe Foundation is planned to be checked for a possible conflict of interest. The temporary investigative committee of the Verkhovna Rada is preparing a corresponding appeal to the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP), according to Glavkom.

During the TSC meeting, Deputy Kira Rudyk raised questions about compliance with anti-corruption restrictions after Fedorov's employment. Specifically, it concerns his prior cooperation with the foundation during his tenure in government positions.

The president of the East Europe Foundation, Viktor Liakh, said that the organization did not receive funding from the Ministry of Digital Transformation or the Ministry of Defense, which Fedorov previously led.

According to him, the employment contract with Fedorov also contains restrictions. The former minister cannot represent the foundation in interactions with state bodies he worked for or whose activities he supervised.

Fedorov began working at the foundation after resigning from the government. He took a staff position as advisor to the president of the organization on strategic matters. Liakh said that it was he who personally offered the former minister this job, and no competition for the position was held.

The employment contract with Fedorov was signed in 17, and he took up his duties in 18. According to the foundation's president, the request to reserve him from mobilization was probably filed on the day the contract was signed.

During the TSC meeting, questions were also raised about Fedorov's salary. Liakh did not name the amount and promised to provide the relevant information to the committee in writing.

Currently, this concerns the intention of the TSC to appeal to the NACP. The fact of a conflict of interest regarding Fedorov has not been established, and the final conclusions are to be made by competent bodies after verification.
