Leader of the “DPR” spoke about early voting in occupied Donetsk

Early voting for elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation is underway in the occupied territory of Donetsk region. According to “DPR” leader Denis Pushilin, because of the security situation they organized mobile voting.

“Taking security into account, mobile voting has been organized in the ‘DPR’. 699 mobile teams begin work each day. Each group is equipped with everything necessary and operates under the supervision of observers,” the “DPR” leader said on the air of one of the Russian TV channels.

Early voting in the occupied territory of Donetsk region began on 9 September and will continue until 17 September. From 18 to 20 September, on the days of main voting, polling stations are to switch to a stationary mode of operation.

Organizers say that involving citizens in observing the elections in territories controlled by the Russian Federation, including in the ‘DPR’, is intended to ensure the transparency of the process.

At the same time, observers are recruited and trained by organizations loyal to the occupying authorities, using uniform methodologies. Independent human rights institutions and opposition groups are not involved in this process.

On the occupied territories of Ukraine, voting takes place not only at polling stations. Ballots can also be filled out in residents’ apartments, near building entrances, and in other places not adapted for this purpose.

The local occupation authorities also asked the Russian Central Election Commission to minimize video surveillance of the voting process.
