American publisher Lost Horse Press is preparing an English-language collection of selected poems by Ukrainian poet, dissident, and translator Vasyl Stus. The book will be titled Vortex: Selected Poems and will be published in the fall of 2026.

The edition will also include a translation of Stus’s poem “Meni zory siala nyni vrantsi.” This is one of the first pieces the poet wrote after his arrest on 12 January 1972 — while in the pretrial detention cell of the Kyiv KGB. The translation of this poem for the collection was done by Tokarsky and Murray.
The publisher describes Stus as a Ukrainian poet, critic, translator, and dissident who became the moral voice of his generation. They emphasize that his poetry remains important today for Ukrainian literature and cultural memory.

The new English edition will be another international project dedicated to Stus’s work. In February 2026 a book of his poems, selected letters, and diaries was published in France. In April the first volume of the complete collected works of the writer was printed.
Stus was also honored this year in Ukraine. On 4 September the National Bank of Ukraine introduced a new banknote with a denomination of 2000 hryvnias featuring the poet’s portrait.
