Renowned journalist Yuriy Butusov commented on his YouTube channel on the shocking situation in which the volunteer unit — the battalion "Svoboda" — finds itself, whose personnel are predominantly members of the nationalist political party All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda". They have been defending Ukraine since the early days of the large war.

Direct quote: questions and answers from Y. Butusov in response to him:

"- Will the new challenge be solving the problem of transferring the battalion "Svoboda"? Has the battalion "Svoboda" entered the staff of the 23-th regiment?

- Yes, there is a decision by the command of the second National Guard Corps that the battalion "Svoboda" will join the assault regiment, 23-th assault regiment of the R.G. as a battalion of unmanned systems. I can report that as of now this decision has been made. A large number of servicemen of the "Svoboda" have already been transferred to the staff of this regiment. Nevertheless, the entire battalion is not being transferred. So, some fighters are already there. Some were detained while performing tasks within the first National Guard Corps "Azov" on the Pokrovsk direction.

How to explain this? Honestly, I don’t know—there is absolutely no healthy logic in these actions. I think these are emotional steps, purely political in nature. It seems that the command of the first corps of "Azov" is not paying attention to this issue. Perhaps Denys Prokopenko does not possess the situation with the battalion "Svoboda". Perhaps he is not being informed, or he has no time to deal with this, and he simply does not know that his subordinate battalion performed its duties valiantly, fought bravely, held the defense. This battalion has not been receiving any replenishment from the first corps for a long time and, to be honest, has long needed to go through reformation as defined by the order. And delaying this battalion, which fought so bravely and where almost no combat-capable infantry remain—what is this for?

Why is the order not being executed? I hope this is simply a lack of information at the command of the first National Guard Corps that prevents carrying out these obvious actions. And this must be done at least out of respect for the soldiers of the battalion "Svoboda", who honestly fulfill and have fulfilled all orders. Well, after the battalion has already suffered significant losses and there are no personnel left, why keep this unit merely on the line? For what purpose? A substantial number have already been transferred. What is this for? Is this a game? Is someone playing around?

I hope that Denys Prokopenko, Hero of Ukraine, brigadier general, a respected person, will sort out the situation in his corps, pay attention to this history, which looks very sad. Personally, I get the impression that some commanders simply do not pay attention to their subordinates. I wonder who in the first corps is not attending to the soldiers of the battalion "Svoboda" and does not allow them to reform properly, rest, and proceed to tasks in the new status as a battalion of unmanned systems 23-th assault regiment.

Deliberate destruction of the backbone of the only truly Ukrainian, nationalist political force — the All-Ukrainian Union "Svoboda" — seems to be only part of a broader destruction of activists of Ukrainian-centered forces in Ukraine. Just as it happened with Iryna Farion and Andriy Parubiy. This is happening against the backdrop of the rapidly growing national consciousness among Ukrainians about the causes, course, and consequences of this war and the role of the current government in the ruinous processes concerning the Ukrainian state.
