"Works in a Kyiv restaurant": the case of former OGCC head Zhurilo stalled after mobilization — and the time limits continue to run out.

Ruslan Zhurilo was mobilized in March 2023, after which the High Anti-Corruption Court suspended proceedings against him until his release from military service. An important detail: already in 2026 a co-defendant, Yuriy Pertsev, testified in court that Zhurilo allegedly "works in Kyiv, in a Kyiv restaurant" — after that the court decided to check with the military unit whether he could participate in hearings online.

Zhurilo long had a strong political backline: in 2017 members of parliament from People's Front Maksym Polyakov and Oleh Kryshyn sought to put up his bail, and after the bail was reduced from ₴100 million to ₴12 million it was posted by MP Mykola Kniazhytskyi. The draft law No. 15354 was supposed to partially address the problem of court suspensions and statutes of limitations. But the parliament's law enforcement committee in August recommended not including it on the session agenda, citing, among other things, risks to the principle of legal certainty.
