Court Has Returned Uman Mayor to Duty – Pidozra

Iryna Pletniova stated that signatures of deceased and unrelated people were among those collected for her recall

The Administrative Court suspended the decision of the congress of the party 'For the Future' to recall the mayor of Uman Iryna Pletniova. She said that she continues to fulfill the duties of the city head. This is reported by 'Glavkom' citing Pletniova's statement.

The mayor thanked the court for considering the case and spoke of violations, which, in her words, were allowed during the recall procedure.

In particular, Pletniova claims that among the documents collected for her recall there were signatures of people who are not connected to the Uman community, as well as deceased individuals. She also said that the signatures contained identical or similar handwriting.

Pletniova noted that the court took these circumstances into account. At the same time, she called it a 'strange situation' that the relevant questions were not considered by the head and members of the territorial election commission.

“For me, this issue is not about personal conflicts or political confrontation. There are facts – they must be checked. There is evidence – they must receive a legal assessment. We will continue to defend our position consistently in the legal field – in court, in the language of documents, facts, and evidence,” said the city head.

Earlier, Pletniova spoke of a conflict with Anton Yatsenko, a people's deputy from the Uman region. According to her, the politician did not like that he had lost control over Uman.

As a reminder, 8 in September in Kyiv, the party 'For the Future' held a congress at which they decided to recall Iryna Pletniova from the post of Uman city head.

The procedure became the first in Ukraine to recall a city mayor by popular initiative. From late July to 17 August, the initiative group collected 6710 signatures for recalling Pletniova and handed them over for consideration to the territorial election commission.

As a result of the TVK's check, 6421 signatures were counted. Another 289 signatures were not counted by the commission for various reasons. After this, the issue of recalling Pletniova was considered by the party's congress 'For the Future', which supported the corresponding decision.

Recall that 'Glavkom' conducted an interview with People's Deputy Anton Yatsenko, who told his version of events surrounding the recall of Iryna Pletniova from the post of Uman city head. The politician denied Pletniova's claims about his involvement in organizing her recall and stated that the decision was the initiative of the people of Uman.

Yatsenko also commented on the court challenge to the recall decision and suggested that if the party congress's decision were suspended in Uman, a prolonged confrontation could arise.
