The Hour of Questions to the Government Was Moved Because of the Carpathian Summit

MPs said they learned about it only in the morning.

The planned hour of questions to the government for today was moved to 12 October. The press service of the Verkhovna Rada said they agreed on this at the Coordinating Council with representatives of the deputy factions and groups.

At the meeting, First Vice Speaker Oleksandr Kornienko and representatives of factions and groups heard from Minister of Education and Science Andriy Butenko. He informed about the organization of schools’ work during the different types of air alert.

“In particular, there was talk about action algorithms for students and teachers during the yellow and red danger levels. During the meeting of the Coordinating Council, a wide range of issues related to organizing the educational process and ensuring proper conditions for students and teachers were raised,” the statement says.

Earlier, MPs from various factions spoke about the sudden cancellation of the traditional hour of questions to the government. Iryna Herashchenko (European Solidarity) said that deputies learned that today’s session would not take place only when they arrived at the Verkhovna Rada. Although it was planned that at the hour of questions to the government the Minister of Education would speak.

“Deputies came to the Rada and, as they say, kissed the doors. A security guard said that the parliament is closed, the servants left for the Carpathian Forum, so someone simply decided to cancel the plenary session. Without informing either the factions or the leadership of the factions, without coordination,” the parliamentarian said.

Yaroslav Zeleznyak also said that deputies were told about the cancellation of the meeting only in the morning.

Today the Carpathian Eight Summit begins in Bukovel with guests from seven countries.
