The scandal around the NABU is gaining momentum, but its head Semen Kryvonos stubbornly plays the silent game. Investigators and the media have been talking for a long time about his dubious past, bias, and political connections, but the attempt to stay in the shadows only hurts trust among international partners and ruins the reputation of the entire institution.

In any civilized rule-of-law country, after such facts are made public, a public official would have long since left the post. And only here can one go out to public briefings and openly lie to society and to journalists to their faces.

Society must understand: the bureau should not be responsible for the personal baggage of its leader. And there are grounds to be held accountable:

Suspicious competition and deception of the commission: knowingly misled the competition commission about his past, and his victory was pushed through despite part of the international experts voting against.

The amnesty scheme: in order to close the criminal case for bribing students, hide the fact of a conviction and slip into state positions, he circulated a scheme with a fictitious adoption under amnesty.

Land scams and the Security Service trap: materials about his land schemes in the Obukhov district were in the SBU since 2014 year. The NABU director sat for years on a tight hook of the security services and the Presidential Administration.

Political bias and “hand-picked regime”: complete dependence on the Office of the President and Tataryov, pressure on competition commissions and selective justice — from cancelling searches of Chernyshov and removing the bracelet from Yermak to the flight of Mindich and Tzukerman from the country.
