Russia struck Zaporizhzhia at night, hitting the national university: six wounded – Center for Investigative Journalism

Russian forces at night 21 attacked Zaporizhzhia with drones, resulting in six people being wounded. In the city, residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged. One of the Zaporizhzhia National University buildings sustained a direct hit.

This is reported by acting head of Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration Mykhailo Semikin, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and ZNU.

According to Semikin, at night the Russians struck Zaporizhzhia with drones at residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. There is damage to apartment buildings, the university, and a shopping center.

“Six civilians were injured. All necessary assistance is being provided. Firefighters worked at the sites of the strikes all night. Some of the fires have already been extinguished. We are helping people whose homes were damaged,” he wrote on Telegram.

The response and cleanup works continue.

As reported by the State Emergency Service, two nine-story residential buildings were damaged, with fires arising. A fire also broke out at a shopping center.

Zaporizhzhia National University reports that one of its buildings was damaged by the Russian shelling.

“Building №3 of ZNU is a cultural heritage site. Within its walls, years of study, meetings, lectures, and important moments of university life took place. This night the building sustained a direct hit,” the statement says.
