VAKS found the former first deputy head of UkrAerorukh guilty and ordered him to pay 70 million UAH

The High Anti-Corruption Court found the former first deputy director of SE "UkrAerorukh" guilty of official negligence that led to grave consequences and ordered him to pay 70 million UAH (almost 1,6 million dollars).

This was reported by Dilo citing the VAKS press service.

The judges sentenced the official to five years’ imprisonment with a ban on holding managerial positions at state enterprises for three years and a fine of 12 750 UAH.

However, the defendant will not serve the sentence. The court released him on the basis of the Criminal Code article concerning expiration of the statute of limitations.

Compensation for damages and seized property

Despite being released from imprisonment, the former official did not avoid financial liability. The court partially granted SE "UkrAerorukh"’s civil claim and ordered the defendant to compensate the state enterprise for 70 million UAH of the damage caused.

To guarantee payment, the judges kept the arrest on the former official’s property in force, including a Toyota Sequoia SUV and a car trailer. The parties have 30 days from the day the decision is announced to appeal this verdict to the VAKS Appeals Chamber.

Recall that earlier VAKS set 15 million UAH bail for the chairman of the board of Sense Bank, Oleksiy Stupak. The court partially granted the prosecution’s request when choosing a preventive measure for the head of the financial institution.
