Instead of 100 dollars for setting fire to a relay cabinet, two Kyiv residents received 10 and 15 years of imprisonment

The investigation established that a 18-year-old resident of the capital agreed for money to set fire to relay cabinets on the railway at the request of a representative of the aggressor country. To carry out the task he involved his 17-year-old acquaintance. The court found both young men guilty of sabotage and sentenced them.

This, as K.V. has learned, is stated in a report from the Kyiv police.

Operatives from the Dnipro Police Department together with SBU officers exposed and detained two people involved in the arson of a relay cabinet in the Darnytskyi district of the capital.

During the investigation it was established that a 18-year-old Kyiv resident maintained contact via messenger with a representative of the Russian special services, who offered him money to set fire to a railway facility. For completing the task the handler promised 100 dollars. Later the young man involved his 17-year-old acquaintance in the crime.

“On the day of the arson the men bought a flammable mixture at a store and went to the railway facility in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. One of them poured it on the relay cabinet and set it on fire, while his accomplice filmed what happened. He sent the recording to the handler via messenger as confirmation of the completed task. However, the young men never received the promised reward,” the report says.

The detainees were previously notified of suspicions under part 2 of article 113 – sabotage committed by prior agreement of a group of persons and by an organized group under martial law. Until the verdict they were held in custody.

The court has now found both offenders guilty and sentenced them to 10 and 15 years of imprisonment.
