Stefanchuk commented on the possibility of holding elections through Diia

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk believes that conducting elections through the Dia app in the near future will be difficult. According to him, such a format must meet the requirements of democracy, security, and voter trust. Stefanchuk said this during a working trip to Kharkiv, as reported by Glavkom.

“Right now, there is no possibility in which elections would meet the main criteria — democracy, security, and trust — to be implemented. Therefore I think it is unlikely in the near term,” the speaker said.

He also drew attention to constitutional requirements for the electoral process. “We are hitting the norms of the Constitution, because elections must ensure direct voting,” Stefanchuk noted.

Separately, the speaker mentioned the experience of electronic voting through the Dia app during the selection of Ukraine’s representative for Eurovision. “Regarding Dia — I respect Dia, I vote in favor of it, but I do not want us to have what happened in Eurovision elections in the presidential or Rada elections,” he said.

Stefanchuk also stated that electronic elections have limited applicability around the world. “Among countries in the world, electronic elections are effectively blessed only in the Russian Federation. And when criminal Putin sits and clicks on a computer with Windows not activated, and votes, there will probably be questions to the results of those elections,” the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada said.

At the same time, he stressed that the issue of conducting elections in Ukraine requires consideration of security and legislative requirements.
