"Energoatom" changed the acting CEO: the previous one lost trust

The Supervisory Board of JSC NAEC Energoatom terminated Pavel Kovtonyuk's duties as chairman and member of the company's management board and appointed Oleksandr Ostapovets as the temporary acting chairman of the board.

It is noted that the decision regarding Pavel Kovtonyuk was made after the Supervisory Board evaluated its decisions and instructions execution.

"Based on the results of this evaluation, the Supervisory Board concluded that there is a loss of trust in Pavel Kovtonyuk's ability to ensure proper execution of its decisions and to continue leading the company during this critically important period," the statement says.

The company emphasized that Ostapovets was appointed as temporary acting head of the board to ensure leadership of Energoatom until the new permanent board lineup begins its work.

His mandate includes providing stable management of the company, proper execution of Supervisory Board decisions, and a orderly transition to the new permanent leadership team.

As a reminder, the Supervisory Board of Energoatom, based on results of independent competitions, recently selected Yuriy Tkachuk as the winner of the competition for the position of CEO, and Pavlo Pavlyshyn as the director for nuclear safety.

Currently, both candidates are undergoing the regulatory and corporate procedures prescribed by law necessary for their official appointment and the start of their respective powers.

As reported, the Energoatom Supervisory Board 20 in August 2025 terminated the powers and dismissed Petro Kotin from the post of acting chairman of the company following his statement. The company was temporarily headed by Pavel Kovtonyuk, who since June 2022 has been leading the Rivne NPP, and previously was the plant's chief engineer.
