Due to loss of confidence in his ability to ensure implementation of decisions: Energoatom's supervisory board replaced the acting CEO

Oleksandr Ostapovets will lead NAEC until the winner of the competition takes up the position full-time.

The Supervisory Board of JSC NAEC "Energoatom" decided to terminate Pavel Kovtonyuk's duties as head and member of the company's board. This is stated in Energoatom's release on 22 September.

The duties of temporary head have been assigned to Oleksandr Ostapovets. He is to lead the company until the new permanent board composition starts work.

"The decision regarding Pavel Kovtonyuk was made after the Supervisory Board assessed the state of execution of its decisions and instructions. As a result of this assessment, the Supervisory Board concluded that there was a loss of trust in Pavel Kovtonyuk's ability to ensure proper execution of its decisions and to continue to lead the Company during this critically important period," the statement says.

Oleksandr Ostapovets is to ensure stable management of the company ahead of the preparation for the heating season.

Earlier competition selections named Yurii Tkachuk as head of the board and Pavel Pavlishin as member of the board for nuclear safety and operation. Both are currently undergoing regulatory and corporate procedures required for their official appointment and execution of respective powers.

Pavlo Kovtonyuk previously led Rivne NPP. He was appointed temporary chair of the board last August after the dismissal of Petro Kotin.
