Trump announced readiness to use Lindsey Graham's "hellish sanctions" if necessary

U.S. President Donald Trump is ready to apply the "hellish sanctions" against the aggressor country Russia that were initiated by the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. Trump said this 22 September during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly; the White House published the video.

Trump mentioned the sanctions in the context of the war in Ukraine, which Russia started, and of U.S. efforts to resolve it.

He emphasized that America wants to put an end to the war, which is taking tens of thousands of lives every month, and threatened restrictions.

"Last week, in honor of Senator Lindsey Graham, I signed a powerful new law passed by Congress that gives me significant new authorities to impose tariffs. And if necessary, I will use them. It's time to stop the killings," the head of the White House said.

Russia reacted at the time to support for Graham's sanctions. After the House of Representatives approved them, the press secretary of the illegitimate Russian president Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, assured that the imposition of additional U.S. sanctions "would certainly complicate efforts to seek a peaceful settlement in Ukraine." When Trump signed the law, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the U.S. actions "Russophobic abominations".
