Vice-Rector Inna Kostyria and Her Luxurious Life During the War: BMW, Apartment, and Jewelry Worth Hundreds of Thousands

Journalists from StopCor 23 September 2026 published new information about the property, car, and expensive items linked to Vice-Rector of Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts Inna Kostyria. The investigation also raises questions about her work at the university, her staying abroad after the start of the full-scale invasion, and a court case over a bank debt. Some of the authors’ conclusions were based on open registers, photos from social networks, and responses to journalists’ inquiries.

According to the material, Kostyria owns an apartment in the Pecherskyi district of Kyiv with an area of 122 square meters. Journalists estimate its market value at about 300 thousand dollars. The investigation also mentions four plots of land in Kirovohrad region with a total area of more than 8 hectares, the media write. The authors separately drew attention to a BMW 520D 2024 model year, which, according to YouControl, is owned by Kostyria. The value of similar cars on the Ukrainian market was estimated by journalists at approximately 62,5 thousand dollars. At the same time, the price of the specific car, its trim level, and the actual purchase price were not established separately in the material. A large portion of the investigation is devoted to items Kostyria displays in photographs. The journalists analyzed 26 images and stated that in nine of them the same Graff ring is visible, which the authors valued at about 700 thousand euros. In three photographs, by their count, a Rolex watch appears with an approximate value of 300 thousand euros. The material also provides valuations for Cartier jewelry and items from Dior, Hermès, and Gucci. Among other assets mentioned by the journalists are a boat, estimated at about 800 thousand euros, and a Bentley with an approximate value of 240 thousand euros. These figures are the authors’ estimates or the value of comparable items, not a documented sum of Kostyria’s expenditures to acquire them. Another issue concerns a lawsuit by Universal Bank. According to the investigation, in 2023 the financial institution filed a lawsuit over Kostyria’s debt, which journalists state is over 11,5 thousand dollars. The mere existence of such an obligation requires comparison with the materials of the relevant court case and its current status. The journalists also examined Kostyria’s employment relations with KNUKiM after the start of the full-scale invasion. According to StopCor’s calculations, since 2022 she has spent a total of about 3 years and 9 months outside the country. A university representative, in response to the inquiry, did not specify all periods of her absence and said that consultations could have been provided remotely. The university, according to the authors, requested the maximum legally permitted time to prepare a response regarding payments and workload. A separate episode of Kostyria’s biography is linked to the National Palace of Arts “Ukraine.” In 2014 she headed the institution, but was dismissed already in July of the same year. After that, Kostyria appealed the dismissal in court twice. Contemporary publications linked her appointment to Mykhailo Poplavskyi, but such claims reflect the position of media at the time, not a fact established by a court.

In 2019 Kostyria ran for the Verkhovna Rada as an independent candidate. During the campaign, a concert took place in Fastiv featuring Oleg Vynnyk and Mykhailo Poplavskyi. Hromadske at the time characterized the event as campaign-related, citing political symbols and statements from the stage. Currently the main questions raised in the new investigation concern the source of funds for the property and expensive items, the official’s actual workload, and the legal status of the bank debt. Photographs themselves, market valuations, and mentions in open sources do not, by themselves, prove illegal origin of assets or wrongful receipt of salary.
