Legislation on postwar elections is almost ready, but not yet registered — Korniyenko

First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Korniyenko stated that the degree of readiness of the bill on postwar elections is “high,” although the document has not yet been registered.

According to him, the main problem is no longer technical but political — the final rules will be determined only after the security situation changes and a real prospect of elections appears. "When there is at least some possibility to hold them in Ukraine on the horizon, of course this process will intensify... the technical aspect is not the biggest problem, we have enough intellectual resources," Korniyenko noted.

Among the key questions are where voting can be held at all if part of the territory remains occupied or frontline, as well as votes of IDPs, military personnel, and millions of Ukrainians abroad. Korniyenko proposes that the security grounds for not holding elections in specific communities be prepared by the Cabinet of Ministers, with the final decision approved by the Verkhovna Rada.
