Ukrainian Railways' Children's Cars: What Makes Them Unique and How Much a Trip Costs

Little Ukrainians, together with their parents, have the opportunity to travel within the country and beyond its borders by Ukrzaliznytsia trains of enhanced comfort. The children's carriages were modernized with financial support from UNICEF Ukraine.

UZ Children’s Carriages

The child’s carriage is a compartment coach equipped for passengers with children. It is furnished with anti-impact safety strips on the upper berths, a playpen, busy boards, and board games for children up to 8 years old. Travel in these conditions will never be boring for the little ones.

In the carriage’s toilets there are changing tables, child cushions, and hygienic sets.

Confectioners can order a children's menu and a device to heat baby meals from the attendants.

Ukrainians are captivated by the children's carriages. One passenger said that her daughter had something to do and play with, and the time on the train passed quickly.

How much does a trip in a child’s carriage cost at UZ

Children up to 5 years old inclusive may travel for free, provided the child does not have a separate seat.

For children aged 6 to 13 years inclusive there is a ticket discount — 25%. Parents will need to show the conductor a birth certificate of the child. The document can also be shown in Diia.

In special carriages, parents with children aged from 0 to 14 years are allowed to travel.

Tickets to the child carriages can be purchased only in the official UZ app; they have separate labeling.
