Uzhhorod allocated another 50 million UAH to carriers for preferential travel

Uzhhorod City Council increased funding for the urban bus system's preferential travel compensation program from 200 to 257 million UAH. An additional 57 million UAH was provided by changes to the program for the years 2025–2027.

This is reported by Dilo, citing a Zaxid.net notification.

The city council decision does not specify what prompted the increase in funding specifically to this amount.

The changes were approved by 24 of 28 deputies present at the meeting. Uzhhorod Mayor Bohdan Andriyiv did not participate in the vote due to a conflict of interest.

Who receives the subsidies

Public transport in Uzhhorod is operated by the municipal enterprise "Uzhhorod Municipal Transport" and private carriers. Among them is JSC "Uzhhorod ATC 12107"+, of which a co-owner is the mayor’s niece, Tetiana Andriyiv.

From December 2025 year to June 2026 the year, the price of a ride in public transport in Uzhhorod was raised three times. As a result, the fare increased from 15 to 23 hryvnias, regardless of payment method.

Free rides in city buses are provided, among others, to pensioners, combat veterans, people with war-related disabilities, and those affected by the Chernobyl disaster, as well as veterans of several security and law enforcement agencies, and certain family members of fallen or missing service members.

Separate categories of children also have benefits: children from large families and orphans can ride for free, and students of Uzhhorod schools pay half the ticket price.

Earlier it was reported that Lviv currently does not plan to raise the price of rides in public transport. The city council stated that carriers have not formally approached with a proposal to review the tariff and did not provide relevant calculations.
