The EU Council approves a new payment to Ukraine: how much money Kyiv will receive

Ukraine will soon receive almost 3 billion euros – after the Council of the European Union approved the eighth regular tranche under the Ukraine Facility. Almost 800 million euros will be provided for the first time as part of a loan to support Ukraine.

What amount did Ukraine receive from the EU

It is emphasized that the approved payment reflects Ukraine's successful fulfillment of ten targeted indicators, as stated on the Council's website.

Currently, Ukraine has fulfilled 84 of 95 targeted indicators provided for in the plan. This amounts to about 88% of the indicators whose implementation was planned at this moment.

Financing under the Ukraine Facility is aimed at strengthening Ukraine's macro-financial stability, its recovery and modernization, ensuring the functioning of public administration, and supporting reforms,

On Thursday, 24 September, the EU Council also amended the Ukraine Plan, including a welcome voluntary financial contribution from Norway amounting to 1 billion Norwegian kroner (about 92 million euros) in the form of non-repayable assistance.

Sweden has already provided additional voluntary contributions totaling over 253 million euros in the past year.

Norway became the first non-EU member country to contribute to the first component of the Ukraine Facility.

Moreover, recently the United Kingdom contributed more than 17 million euros to the second component.
