Mena police located a thief within hours who stole from servicemembers’ cars

21 September, around 8-hour in the morning, to the Menka Police Department began receiving reports from servicemen that overnight in various locations in the town of Mena property from cars had been stolen, including military gear, office equipment, a mobile phone, money, and other personal belongings.

At the scene, police conducted the necessary initial investigative actions, recorded traces, seized evidence, and questioned applicants and potential witnesses.

To quickly identify the perpetrator and his whereabouts, law enforcement mobilized the maximum number of personnel, involved a service dog. Police used the full range of operational capabilities available, worked through various versions and directions of search, checked received information, and established the circumstances of the crimes.

Thanks to the coordinated work of detectives and operatives, the crimes were solved on the hot trail. Within several hours, law enforcement identified the person involved in the thefts and his location.

He turned out to be a 19-year-old resident of the Men community, who had previously been convicted of robbery. Police found and seized the stolen property from him.

The police detained the suspect in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators informed the man of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (theft committed under martial law). The question of choosing a preventive measure is also being resolved.

The sanction of the article provides up to eight years of imprisonment.
